Last week, I asked our community what we’re practicing. Here’s a glimpse of what you said:
Gentleness.
Finding peace within so I can approach challenges (a person, a situation, a fear) from a positive place.
Not being so hard on myself.
Learning that my path is my path is my path.
Today: Gratitude.
Pausing and breathing.
Being as harmonious with everything as I can be.
Putting one foot in front of the other.
Loving myself.
Surrender, slowing down, and taking a deep breath.
Kindness to myself.
Applauding myself for my progress.
Letting go of the past that haunts me.
Forgiveness – of myself and others.
Releasing the feeling of unworthiness.
Recognizing my feelings of anger and disappointment and releasing them.
Having compassion for myself.
Holding on to the feeling of what I desire.
Staying in my desired feelings longer.
Truly caring for myself.
I’m practicing waking up.
Encouraging myself.
Picking myself back up.
Trusting in myself.
Thank you a hundred times for your sincerity and openness, your beautiful insights and burning questions. I want to tell you, I get it! Me, too!
When I read these heartfelt responses, one word lingered in my mind: liberation.
We want to free ourselves from the ghosts of the past and fears of the future. From shame and the barriers we’ve built against our own peace. We want to use our voices freely. Heal our steadfast hearts. Freely and lovingly inhabit our bodies.
We want to rise up, thank the day, and carry on. Freely.
I’ve been working on a new project this summer, and today feels like the perfect time to set a little piece of it free.
This is an excerpt from a book in progress, Love, Child. Love. Most of it exists as fleeting images, fragmented thoughts, and phrases sprinkled through my journals, but your words helped bring this one to life. So, thank you.
“You praise my wings, yet it’s your very nature to fly. You are freedom, child.
Become the bird. Become liberation. Let go of the branches and lose sight of your nest.
Fly toward wholeness, carrying desire on your back. And sing. Sing until your fears are singing, too.”
I’ll be sharing more as more pieces come to life. Until then, ask yourself when do you feel free as a bird and how can you feel that way more often?
If the illustration today spoke to you, you can check it out in poster form (along with a few other pieces) in my new Spark Shop. It’s my version of becoming the bird.
